The third edition of the&nbsp;<strong>international design contest was inspired by the story of Kaspar Urz<\/strong>, the porcelain figurines collector in Bruce Chatwin\u2019s novel. Aspiring designers were requested to&nbsp;<strong>design a decorative figurine in ceramic or porcelain<\/strong>, depicting real or imaginary characters, with a size limit for height of 15 cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sharebot worked together with Istituto Marangoni to create the prototype: first step was about&nbsp;<strong>choosing the right 3D printer<\/strong>&nbsp;for the model. Knowing the&nbsp;<strong>size and feature<\/strong>&nbsp;the mockup should have, our technicians chose to use&nbsp;<strong>Sharebot 42<\/strong>, our filament deposition professional 3D printer. The model maximum width is 200 mm while it\u2019s high is less than 150 mm (as the contest requests). The Engilab staff&nbsp;<strong>started from the information we now have about the temple to sketch it completely<\/strong>, reproducing the looks and the internal rooms and columns. Because of the lack of information,&nbsp;<strong>the staff used other temples structure to model the \u201cnew\u201d Hera Lacinia shape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once they had the model,&nbsp;<strong>they divided it into different sections<\/strong>&nbsp;to ease the printing process (as you can see by downloading the .stl files) and started printing with different Sharebot professional and desktop 3D printers. Once assembled, the model size is 240 x 600 x 200 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Materials<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>PLA-S<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PLA\u2019s the most used 3D printing material, composed by a&nbsp;<strong>thermoplastic polymer derivated from corn<\/strong>&nbsp;and it\u2019s biodegradable. PLA\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>resistant and solid<\/strong>&nbsp;(avoiding the warping effect during the printing process)&nbsp;<strong>without retraction and deformation<\/strong>.
